I have found some interesting parts in one of gfxCardStatus's bug reports. A
lot of noise in there, but this looks useful:

Something in OSX's GPU selector mechanic was changed in Sierra, which could be
interfering with LibreOffice. Building with new tools might be worth a first
try.
(disclaimer: I have no Mac experience, just trying to interpret the information
available)
