             Bug #: 53683
Summary: LibreOffice crashes after a while when working with
                    big files
    Classification: Unclassified
           Product: LibreOffice
           Version: 3.5.6.2 rc
          Platform: x86-64 (AMD64)
        OS/Version: Windows (All)
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: critical
          Priority: medium
         Component: Libreoffice
        AssignedTo: [email protected]
        ReportedBy: [email protected]

Reproduction in two simple but time consuming steps:
1) Open several bic Calc documents with tens of thousands of formulas (like
this one from another bug report:
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/attachment.cgi?id=63612 )
2) Work with those documents for 15 to 30 minutes

I have to work with big Calc documents every day. One sheets contains 1000 to
2000 rows with complicated formulas that also retrieve data from other sheets
within the same document. When I have three or more of these documents open,
plus some Writer documents, LibreOffice crashes slowly.
The first sign of a crash is display corruption. E.g. when switching from one
document to another, only a chart is shown, while everything else in that
document is black. Or clicking on a cell in Calc leads to that cell only
showing white, instead of the actual content.
When this happens, I am usually able to save my documents. But while closing
the documents, LibreOffice crashes and tries to recover all documents when I
re-start it.
This is critical in version 3.5.6RC2, but it is even worse in 3.7alpha. Version
3.7 usually crashes directly after I notice display corruption and before I
have a chance to save my work!
In Options, I have set the graphics cache to a total of 256 MB and 1 MB per
object. Objects are to be removed from memory after 30 minutes. My graphics
card has 1 GB memory, which should be more than enough. RAM also does not seem
to be a problem since LibreOffice does not use that much.
