Can you also switch your locale to english to see if that helps (perhaps the PPD parsing is locale specific): export LANG=en_US.UTF-8 - that would be a useful data point. Clearly without being able to reproduce it here this is pretty annoying for us all; can you confirm what Linux distribution / version you're using ?
