I'm not suggesting that, Heiko. If the footnote separator placement is set to
"use superordinate object setting" (or "by page style direction setting" etc.)
- then it doesn't get changed. Just like with the paragraph direction.

On the contrary. The unlikely situation is what we have now, which is a manual
forcing of the separator to one side. (In fact, I'm not even sure people would
ask for the ability to set the footnote separator to the opposite of the page
style default.)
