Which BIOS and Partition Magic version do you need for this to work?

I have a Libretto 100 with BIOS 6.2, and when I boot a Win95 floppy
with Partition Magic 4.01 on it, it will only see the first 8GB.
When I boot one of my desktops with the same Win95 floppy, Partition
Magic can see the whole of a big hard drive.

Apparently the Libretto BIOS is missing something important?!

Another workaround: use an 2.5"->3.5" IDE adapter and put the harddrive
into a desktop computer and do the partitioning over there. The FDISK
that comes with Win98 (at least Win98 SE) will do.

!!! I bet that the hibernation partition must be on disk cylinders
1015-1023, i.e. the last 9 cylinders before the 8GB boundary !!!
