I looked at that <g>. Its not really possible to connect the disk the wrong way 
round as the connector is too high inside the case to mate with the disk 
connector if inserted the wrong way round. I had the same feature after 
rebooting with only the floppy drive present under the old bios. When I 
reinstated BIOS 6.4 the drive and light started to work normally again.. 'tis 
very odd, me thinks...

Thanks. I'll have a search for that and see what comes out.

emm - no. Didn't know about that page. Shall go and investigate asap.
I'll also follow up the other links.

hmm - not sure which routine you mean, but if you are writing this at 03:40 
local time any mind would slip <g>. I couldn't find anything on toshiba's page, 
but I'll have another look.

It seems to work fine in newer notebooks..
