All this is true, but there is a work around - you can strip the CD files
to an MP3 or other format on your hard drive and play them from there. Not
ideal, but it should work.

Simply press play on the external CD-ROM and plug that into speakers.
Unfortunately, there is no way for audio info to be transmitted into
the L50 over the parallel/serial/PCMCIA ports from the CD-ROM. On desktops,
it is transmitted by the analog/digital audio cables into the sound card,
either by seperate cables or over the IDE cable digitally. No such thing
over
the PCMCIA/etc. connectors as far as I know of....
