Well, I have had a Japanese 50, and now own a US 100. But my wife has a US
50, so I have either to compare. YEs, the battery life is much better on
later models such as the 100. But if you haven't tried a high-capacity
battery on your 50 yet, you need to!
The hi-cap is twice the mAH capacity as the regular, but gives about 3x the
life! And with judicious use of the battery saving "hairy light bulb" and a
CPU idle program ( Rain or Waterfall are popular ) you can get about 3
hours.
Look around for the hi-cap battery. Try eBay. You may be quite satisified
with 1 or 2 of them.
