Obviously this answer is for US only...
I use Verizon ( ex- Bell Atlantic/NYNEX ) wireless digital ( yuk!!! ) with a
Star-Tac tri-mode ( cellular and PCS ) with a $100++ cable from the serial
port to the phone. It is actually a modem that plugs into the phone. I get
14.4 out of it.
When I tried a cellular-ready PCMCIA modem and an analog phone I never
exceeded 9600.
VoiceStream ( ex-Omnipoint ) is supposedly also pushing into the teens in
speed.
Ah, to be in Japan where they shove their entire handphone into the PCMCIA
soocket and get 56k!
