I have a couple of those same (DWL-650) D-Link cards, and I was having a
nightmare of a time trying to get them to work under Linux in ad-hoc
mode... But now I have found a driver which makes it possible to use
them as an access point, and it all works beautifully (at laaaaast :)
Now I just need a card for my desktop, and then my Lib can be free,
free, freeeeeee! (of wires ;)
One thing to note is that these cards pretend to only work at 3.3V, but
will work at 5V too (they just lie to the pcmcia controller...) and so
work fine in the pre-Cardbus Libbies too.
Thinking of which, does anywhere still do the batteries (preferably high
capacity) for the L50? (different to the L100 ones, aren't they?)
