It's certainly hotter on the bottom than the top! I think the only reason its hotter on the bottom is because the magnesium case conducts heat a lot better than the plastic keyboard ... certainly if one was to take off the keyboard and compare the temperature of the heat plate guard (that piece of metal with the warning stickers) and the base of the Libretto I'd imagine the heat plate guard would come out considerably warmer ...
