I'm looking down the road to the possibility of not resolving the conflict this new Xircom modem has on my 70CT and not the 50CT... the possiblilty of having to reload Windows. At first I thought it would be a lot easier with this extended port replicator that came with the 70CT. I figured since I can put the floppy card into the 70CT and the CD-ROM card into the replicator, I could make a boot floppy that could access the CD-ROM and set up Windows from there. So I plugged in both drives, put the W98 CD in the CD-ROM drive, and created a system boot floopy from Add/Remove programs. Heh... well, I found that the boot disk doesn't find the CD-ROM when it starts to set up CD-ROM support. Guess there are problems seeing the CD-ROM drive throught the replicator. I did first try searching the archives, going to David's website, and doing a general search for this on Google... but didn't come up with anything. So here I am again :-) Maybe this is one that's easy for someone on the list. Is it a relatively simple matter on a 70CT to get the CD-ROM recognized by the boot disk through the extended port replicator?
