Yes, I've been told that the Kingston 2GB and 5GB PCMCIA/PCcard HDDs are made by Toshiba (ie they are the same, different label); and I've read somewhere (one of the Apple-watching sites) that the iPod HDD is sourced from Toshiba. The iPod is Firewire only... so you'd need a Firewire (or USB/Firewire combo) card too... Windows-iPod software is being developed by a third party - I don't know if this will include the facility to access the iPod as an external HDD. I guess the most likely cause of a more "realistic" price will be if (when?) IBM also adopt this format, and start to compete for a share of the 1.8" niche, now that Apple use it and a lot of Palm-format handhelds have optional PCcard slot expansion modules. ************************************************************** http://libretto.basiclink.com - Libretto mailing list http://libretto.basiclink.com/archive - Archives http://www.picante.com/~gtaylor/portable/faq.html - FAQ -------TO UNSUBSCRIBE------- Reply to any of the list messages.
