Well for all gps info I always goto gps joe ;-) http://joe.mehaffey.com/
the gps12 on ebays might be the good gps12.. But the gps3 has the
ability of the external ant. Connections and you can get them cheaper
then 399 list I scored mine the day after thanksgiving for 99 bucks for
a referb. Just keep an eye on ebay and around the net... Sa will allow
you to use any gps receiver that has nmea compatibility.. The gps3 does
not have uploadable base maps which is nice to be able to do but what I
do with my gps3 is I just upload the route to the gps unit and I read
off it.. Gets me close enough to where I can then pull out the laptop
and then get a detailed map for the area.

Pres & Phillip and all,

What kind of GSP units are you using with SA, and what do they run? I
got a
copy of SA last year, and never used it much because I ended up getting
MS
Streets for $6 after rebate and copying the entire thing to my 6.4GB
drive.

But now I think I have the Lib list posting on how to get the SA CD
running
from the HDD, and I've learned about SA's moving map and directions come

through audio.

A friend told me he got a Garmin GPS Map 12 for about $250 a few years
back.
So I looked on EBay thinking that I should be able to pick up one for
under $100 these days. But to my surprise, that're going for $150-$200
used!

I think Delorme offers a cheap GPS unit to attach to a laptop for around

$40... is that right? But I was thinking that during the day, it'd be
impossible to see the SA map on the Lib LCD very well. It looks like a
lot
of the Garmin GPSs have a map readout that might be a lot more readable
in
daylight inside a car.

I was wondering what your experiences have been. Do you, or anyone
else,
know if there any good GPS units that will interface with SA on a Lib
that
have their own map display for under $100 used or new?

I figure if MusicMatch runs as well as it does on this 70CT running W98,
and
will play MP3s while I multitask... I'm guessing SA should run pretty
well
too.

I can load my copy of SA now and check out how well it runs without the
GPS
for you if you'd like Pres.

Matt
