They have offices in both.

Unfortunately, the official Toshiba importer/distributor for Thailand is
Chevalier.

I bought my Libretto from Chevalier in Hong Kong, and the people there went
out of their way to repeatedly demonstrate their incompetence once I'd paid
my money and walked out the door.

Here in Thailand, Chevalier insist on charging "express shipping and special
import duty" on all parts (and all parts have to come from Singapore), and
the price is nothing short of astronomical. This is on warranty repairs on a
machine with explicit international warranty BTW.

In any case, I have difficulty taking seriously an official importer/
/distributor (Chevalier Thailand head office, Bangkok) whose written
quotation for a PA2503U battery is USD425 (FOUR HUNDRED AND TWENTY FIVE
USD!!!) - oh, and that'll be 2 months for delivery, and a 50% deposit, thank
you very much.

The people in Malaysia were much more helpful and never charged me anything,
but when they replaced my HDD (under warranty) they formatted it in another
PC (despite having my Libretto in their custody for the entire week it took
them to do the job), so there was no space reserved for hibernation - and as
you can imagine, that caused me a tremendous amount of grief not long
afterwards. Again, this is at the main central office / warranty centre of
the official Toshiba importer/distributor, this time for the whole of
Malaysia.

My Libretto was the first (and only) purchase I ever made where I felt
relieved when the warranty expired ;-)
