Subject: L70 lid movement/power problem

Hmmm… posted this last Wednesday, but see now that it didn’t make the list:

Recently I’ve had a problem with my L70 shutting down sometimes when I
adjust the angle if the lid. The system suddenly losses power, and leaves
me with a orange blinking AC power adaptor LED, the far right of the 4 LEDs.
Pressing the power button at this point boots the system fine, and then I
can shut it down with the battery and AC adaptor LEDs glowing green
normally.

The only connection between the lid and main body of the system I can think
of is the ribbon cable. So I opened up the top of the system, and re-seated
the ribbon several times hoping it might clean an oxidized connection. But
the problem still persists.

I don’t know if this is related, but the lid seems to be separating along
the seam on the bottom right side (facing the screen) by the hinge.

Though the problem has been intermittent, it’s pretty frequent. I had the
problem last summer for a while, but not to the extent it’s been happening
now. Back then the problem just went away for the most part.

Has anyone experienced this problem on their system?

Thanks,

Shel (M.H.)
