Lee, another setting you could try is in options>preferences>plugins>input>Nullsoft MPEG Audio Decoder. There's a setting called "Buffer entire file from disk if file is smaller than:". If you can spare the memory then try setting this to 5000KB, or some other size that is larger than most of your mp3 tracks.
