This is very much an at-your-own-risk :) but I'd use very small 
amounts of distilled water and a small brush (e.g. toothbrush) the 
water will kill any static and should dissolve the crud. Rinse 
carefully and dry thoroughly.

Sounds bizarre, I know... The brush may remove your silver pen 
track, so you may need to do it again.
