Subject: Wireless yada-yada

I'm not remembering if we have had this discussion before BUT in case we haven't
I'd like some input from the Librettati about wireless hardware. I have occasion
to use my L110 (W2Kos) wired with my desktop at times but I use the Libby all the
time when I travel and use it wireless in hotels and airports. I've been using an
11mps D-Link card in the Libby but it doesn't seem to have much range (it's an
Air DWL-650) or speed. I'm tired of the wire tangle on my desk at home and want
to go completely wireless both away from and at home. I'm confused
though........I've read up on and looked at many different brands, prices, etc of
wireless hardware but there seems to be conflicting info about everything. Some
things don't work with Toshiba laptops, some things don't work with mixed brand
setups, .a wireless vs. .b wireless, 11mps vs. 22mps and so on. What have the
listers used and what is a good combo taking into account durability (for a
traveling PC card an important quality?), price, utility and ease of use, brand
interopterability, speeds (11mps vs. 22mps), range, etc. I need a wireless
router, a PC card and a PCI card (how about the advantages, if any, of a PCI
adapter to use the PC card in the desktop instead of a PCI card with the
antenna?) and anything else that may be necessary/useful. Mix and match is fine
with me or is all the same brand the way to go? I just know some of you out there
have the killer setup - share it with us!

Chester
