All of my experience is with 11mb cards, which all seem to interoperate
without problems. (( think the 22mb ones are vendor specific???)
I have had good luck with the Orinoco Gold card, and with the Cisco 350
series card. (and bad luck with the Linksys ones -- very short range.)
The Orinoco card is supported by Netstumbler, but the Cicso card is not.
(But some people have gotten it to work under XP.)
The Orinoco card supports an external antenna.
The Cisco card's antenna is flat, so it does not block the card above it.
The flat shape also makes it easier to slip into my carry case.
The Cisco card's antenna is rounded, while the Orinoco card has sharp,
square edges, which the heel of my hand drags across when using the
L110's mouse.
The Orinoco client software makes it trivial to switch between different
configurations (WEP key, etc.)
The Cisco cards are a lot more expensive that the Orinoco Gold ones.
Personally, I would go with the Orinoco/Lucent/Avaya/{insert name of the
week here} cards, because they work great, and are pretty cheap.
