I'm using a Garmin Etrex Venture GPS (less features than the summit) along with DeLorme Street Atlas v8 on my L100 (not overclocked, W98se, 20GB HDD, 64MB RAM) with excellent results. It handles complex routing as well as basic map functions. It is possible to library all the Street Atlas data on the L100's hard drive (my Street Atlas directory w/all data uses 0.98GB) to avoid running a CD drive. I tried using MS Streets & Trips, but could never get it to see the GPS. Others have had better luck. Connectivity requires either use of one of the L100's replicators, or other means of providing a serial port for the Etrex. I'm currently using a PCMCIA/serial adapter which works fine. A possibly better option is to use a PCMCIA/USB adapter card and a USB/serial cable - I'm hoping to try this soon. I believe all the Etrex units have the same connector at the top. You'll need a combo Y cable with a car power adapter and 9-pin serial connection, available from Garmin and others. With Street Atlas, not only can you see your progress on the screen (GPS position always centered), you can optionally turn on voice navigation, and the program will direct your turns!
