On the road the Extended Port replicator is no option due to the required
external power.

The speed of the interface is no real issue I think because it is the Flash
memory itself that is slow.

What I read about the PCMCIA-SD adapter is you have to take out the adapter,
place the SD card and put it back in the PCMCIA slot again, every time again.
For a CF adapter this seems to be different.

The most flexible solution seems to be a PCMCIA USB card and a separate
USB-SDcard adapter(SanDisk cruser)

Are there PCMCIA-USB adapters that completely fit INSIDE a PCMCIA type II slot?

The ones I saw so far stick out 1 or 2 cm.
