Sam,

The 1st thing that you need to do is to get your CD Player working. The driver might be corrupted or Missing or maybe you have an interrupt conflict. To check the device driver click on Start/Control Panel/System/Devices. Look for your Panasonic CD Player. If the player is not listed you probably do not have the device driver loaded. Missing might also be caused by your PCMCIA software not working correctly. If you see the CD player in the device window you should open the device (icon) and check if the device is working correctly. The steps that I just mentioned only takes a few seconds. If all else fails reinstall the drivers for the CD player! If that doesn't work replace the CD Player.

To install 98se you will need to have the CD player functioning. If the CD player is working and if the PC has already booted, just insert the 98se CD and follow the prompts (this will perform an UPGRADE). I would also suggest that you need to research the WEB for any additional drivers that might be needed BEFORE you do the upgrade. GOOD LUCK!!

PS If you have the ability to connect the Libretto to another PC (peer to peer) you can always copy the entire contents of the 98se CD to the HD of the Libretto and then execute SETUP.EXE (provided you have enough free space).
