Always a truck-load of eBooks online.

RedHat has an entire CD worth (you can grab it free off their download
sites) that'll get you started. Many other eBooks are online as well - just
search for 'ebook linux'. They were giving away free eCopies of various Linux
how-to-books years ago as I recall, so can't imagine why they're not around
still.

IBM Alphaworks? has a bunch of Linux tutorials online in PDF format for you
to download. They were designed to take you from the start to becoming a
certified Linux guy, and they're easy and short enough to read that you should
pick up the basics pretty quick.

And other than that? Preferably, Virtual PC/VMWare running Linux rather
than the bare PC system running Linux if you're playing around with it and want
to try everything -- this way, if you accidentally do something like format the
entire HD, within Virtual PC, you'll have only damaged a 'virtual HD' and not
wiped your real one! Great way to let you play and play until you're comfy
with the system and know what you're doing. (same actually, goes for any OS
and application you can run under Virtual PC or VMWare -- they let you play
with new OSs and Software w/o worry about crashing your current PC setup --
highly recommended if you like to play with lots of software, review software, etc.)
