I wonder if someone with Windows 98 or 98SE loaded on their L100 or L100 could tell me what drivers are listed in their Device Manager under 'Sound, video and game controllers'.
I just have one device listed there:
* YAMAHA OPL3-SAx Sound System.
I have no joystick driver, synthesizer, or any of the other components that I used to have installed on the L70 after installing its sound drivers.
I tried running the setup.exe in the l100snd8.exe archive, but ended up with a yellow ! in DM for the Yamaha driver it installed. I also ended up with a couple orphans from the installation that need a 'Multi-function adapter' to remove them that doesn't exist.
Seems the only way I can get the L100 sound drivers installed from the extracted files from l100snd8.exe is to remove the drivers in DM, reboot the system, and browse to the folder with the extracted files when Windows detects new hardware on reboot.
I've also tried removing the drivers in DM, and then 'Control Panel > Add new hardware > Select hardware from list > Sound video game drivers > Have disk'. But that keeps saying the drivers are not compatible. Going the other route gets the same results, 'Control Panel > Add new hardware > Yes... search from new hardware > ...'
So I'd be curious to know if there's another way to install the files I've missed, and what people are seeing listed in the sound driver section of Device Manager.
Matt
