I think it must be something configurable rather than electro-mechanical

Hmm - not sure I saw this answer...

CTRL should be on the left, and ALT next to it on the right. You're
saying
that when you press the CTRL key, the system responds as if the ALT key
were hit, and visa versa? If so, that's very odd.

Thats what I get, but without the vice versa - ALT is on CTRL, but I cant find a key that has CTRL On it ;)

As for drivers though, are you installing Windows 98, or Windows 98SE?
Win98SE hardly needs any Toshiba drivers installed to get the basic system
going. At least it would seem the keyboard should work properly with
an
driverless SE installation if the keyboard itself doesn't have physical
problems.

Win98 SE - it identified it fine and someone did say the standard 101 kb was fine :/

You could test it if you had another 50/70CT keyboard to swap. But I'm
guessing that's not an option for you.

I may swap it for my L20 kb - the connector looks the same, and I should at least be able to determine if it is something bizare the L50 kb! A friend of mine has a dead L50 now I think of it....

Matt

Thanks all ;)
