How does one pull a release?  I don't think it is possible.

Replace the tarball with a message that says. D'oh! Sorry, this release was stillborn, please get this other one instead....

Does FSF recommend 'a', 'b', 'c' notation for fixed releases, or does it recommend adding another decimal place?

Actually, I think they recommend 'a' suffix IIRC...
