I've been using licq on and off for the past couple of years and it has several nice
features that make me come back after trying its competitors.

A friend made me check out Gaim the other week, and even though I didn't feel too
comfortable it had some nice features that I would like to see in future Licq
versions. The Task Manager for Licq was turned off, so I suppose I'll post them here
and see what people thinks.

Please let me know if there are plugins out there, already providing this
functionality.

*) Idle time.

The option to list (with as with pending msgs et al) the idle time of the people on
your contact list. Gaim supports this both for ICQ (server) idle time and (my
favorite) X idle time.

This way you can see that your pal that claims to be N/A is actually happily tapping
away at his keyboard, or that your "online" friend is 2 hours idle.

*) Tabbed conversations.

The option to keep all of your chat windows in one, kind of like Opera and Galeon with
browser windows. You change between your different contacts by clicking the tabs at
the top, which list the UIN in black or red (if he/she has sent something new).

*) Contact specific settings

I'm stuck behind the University firewall, and I communicate with people both inside
and outside the fw, both using and not using Licq. I would like Licq to store my
preferences for Send Through Server, Secure Connection and similar individually for
the people on my contact list.

At the moment it works out fine, but if I click in Send Through Server for one user,
it automatically selects that option for all new messages I send, thus breaking any
Secure Connections I have set up.
