Ok. I removed the "Translation = None" to "Translation = "
and started licq from console:
Sending the line "Fortfarande knpandes med asp?"
yields a
"04:45:20: [ERR] Translation file '/usr/share/licq/translations/' corrupted."
But i cant reproduce it.
The abc button i set to utf-8, and the setting (options menu) is also set to
utf-8
locale
LANG=en_GB.UTF-8
LC_CTYPE="en_GB.UTF-8"
LC_NUMERIC="en_GB.UTF-8"

Removed all (apt remove), including the .licq in my home directory.
Instaled the licq-1.3.0-1-SuSE-9.8.i586.rpm from licq homepages
and the first thing i got in the log was:

File = /home/rikjoh/.licq/licq_qt-gui.conf

others...
Sending characters are garbled both ways now...
