Basically there are parts of lift where we are doing high volume creation and destruction of actors and over time, they leak memory ever-so-slightly which increases heap size incrementally. Of course, leaking memory is a bad thing for long-running processes and until EPFL fix there implementation we've decided to go and fix it ourselves.
