IMHO, David was not "snarky" about it... we have a fairly high volume mailing list, and we try to answer all questions promptly (and mostly, we as a team do so in a accurate manner) - it would just help keep the traffic and thread duplication down if people read other emails and searched around a little bit. It doesnt appear to be a big ask.
The bottom line is that Lift is not compatible with 2.8, and wont be until 2.8 is released proper. The whole 2.8 / 2.7.7 issue is affecting the entire scala community right now, and we are aware there are tooling issues... however, this is not lift specific, and will resolve itself in time as 2.8 stabilises. When you have the language author collaborating with the library writers on working bugs out of a language, that is a fair indication that it is not yet production ready and you couldn't possibly expect lift to be fully working on 2.8 at this junction.
