Mostly repeating what David said:
It makes sense to review this omnibus patch at once, because it is all
about how LilyPond behavior should depend on the number of staff-lines.
It might be helpful, if it is practical, to commit the patch in
independently-working stages. Now that I look, I can see how Pál might
actually have 12 independent fixes in the uses of line_count(). I can also
see grouping them into four commits (slurs, ancient, bar lines, code
clarification).
