I don't see what work it would still need. It rather needs a decision.
The PDF part is as good as it will be without a totally different approach
unsuitable for 2.18. The PostScript part for immediate bitmap rendering
could be done completely separately, but it is better than the previous
state, and factoring out for a separate implementation would be a separate
issue. So I am putting this back at least to "review" as there is no work
scheduled or pending or listed that would make a difference to what the
current state of the patch establishes as compared to the current state of
LilyPond.
