\null/point-stencil do not produce anything visible
That's a good reason not to use "printable" or "visible" for what I've
implemented so far, but it might also be a good reason to change the
implementation to ignore point and 1-D stencils. What do you think?
Apart from that, the best alternative that comes to my mind is
\first-available. A non-empty stencil makes something available for
stacking, printing, etc., which an empty stencil does not.
