I'll do some more investigation and see if I can come back with a better
reasoned set of requirements and set of use cases (for ukulele only as I
don't know banjo or any of the other instruments mentioned). I'll take my
time though to make sure I thoroughly understand the issues so could be a
few weeks before I report back.
