Hi,
rather new to LilyPond and keen to experiment, I started to write
Busonis famous piano transcription of Bachs chaconne in d minor from bwv
1004. Using the printout of Breitkopf & H�rtel, I'm currently stuck on
the following:

The point is that both d's in the first beat are perfectly merged,
but that the dot from the dotted quarter (stem-down voice, d4.) is
missing. [The Breitkopf edition has a dot after the quarter d.]
Is there a way to get the d4. dot while still merging that dotted
quarter's head with the beamed 8ght?

ps: I hope this isn't an FAQ. I'm rather new to LilyPond; however,
a search for `merge-differently-dotted' in the list archive won't hit
any mail with a similar problem.
pps: it seems that dots are printed if the *shorter* note is dotted. At
least. the example of Bach's cello suite, beat 1, has a dot after the
merged notes.
