Hi Jogchum, > @Kieren: the word "Dev/null" did not occur in our conversation here a number > of days ago, but maybe it is what you called "a hidden voice" then? And maybe > that's the same as what @Elaine calls "aligning to a NullVoice"?
Yes: a hidden voice, which contains *all* rhythms exactly as needed to attach all the lyrics, but the *notes* are hidden (using a NullVoice or Devnull or similar). The lyrics are ALWAYS attached to that voice — eliminating the need to change associatedVoice — it’s just that we never SEE that voice (i.e., the notes of that voice) because it’s hidden. > Another question then: are the two solutions you give essentially the same, > with only different naming? Or are they two different approaches? To my eye, they’re the same approach (at least fundamentally): attach lyrics to a voice that has all necessary rhythms, and then use some mechanism to turn display of the notes off. > I still don't know why the \set associatedVoice construct Kieren gave in our > previous conversation and which I find more easy to understand, does not work > in the 1-bar polyphon. > Is that impossible indeed? I’m sure it’s possible — I just don’t have the time right now to chase down the precise incantation. Cheers, Kieren. __________________________________________________ My work day may look different than your work day.
