\set additionalPitchPrefix = #"add"
within \chordmode renders the chord name with add9 instead of 9 only.

Example:

cd = \chordmode {
  \set additionalPitchPrefix = #"add"
  c1:9 c:9^7 c:5.9
}

\new Staff \cd
