Did you RTFM?

Old drivers used /dev/midi by default.
Now, depending on what you do, you get /dev/midi00, /dev/midi01 and so on.
Same with /dev/sequencer. Some softs (Jazz) now require using
/dev/sequencer2 too.

Verify that:

/dev/sequencer is:
crw-rw-rw-  1 root  sys   14,  1  1 Apr 1995      /dev/sequencer

/dev/midixx is:
crw-rw-rw   1 root  sys   14,  2  1 Apr 1995      /dev/midi00
                          14, 18
                          14, 34
                          14, 50
for /dev/midi01, 02 & 03

Fixed the problem here.
