Click on that link, enter zip 01773, and the population data almost certainly
includes Hanscom. Most published stats about Lincoln’s population also
considers Hanscom since the authors of those articles are not knowledgeable
enough to strip it out.

Subject: Re: [LincolnTalk] decline in Lincoln population

The Commons has 287 units (197 in the original building and 90 units in memory
care, skilled nursing, and assisted living). Some number of the 197
independent and assisted living units are occupied by couples. To be extremely
conservative let's call The Commons population 300. Oriole Landing has 60
units, with a few families and presumably mostly couples, so let's call that
another 120 for a total of 407 units added through The Commons and Oriole
Landing.

It looks to me that the larger point of that twitter thread stands. Our school
population has been declining. At a guess, the more expensive real estate
becomes the less affordable it is for young families, and thus people moving in
are less likely to have children in the schools.

Lincoln’s current population (per the 2020 Census) is 7,014 people. In 2010 it
was 6,362. So, we have grown about 10% in the last 10 years. (You can find
more details on Wikipedia, and very detailed information at the U.S. Census
official website.)

Much of that growth was due to Oriole Landing and the building of The Commons
as well. I suspect - but am not sure - that much of the rest of the growth is
due to how the counting was done. The latest Census was done during the COVID
shutdown, and I suspect there were very likely some homes here in town counted
as “second homes” in 2010, but as “primary homes” in 2020.

Interesting--and dated. The article is eleven years old. I wonder what the
current trend and number are.
