Route 2A passes through MinuteMan National Historical Park in North Lincoln.
The road is slated for repaving and improvement in time for the 250th
anniversary of the American Revolution in 2025. Traffic-calming safety
improvements will likely include signalized pedestrian crosswalks and islands,
narrowing of travel lanes to allow more room for bicycles, and modifications to
intersections. There will be a public meeting this Friday to address the
potential effect of the repaving project on historic properties and resources.
While Lincoln has been a strong advocate for safety improvements, there has
been pushback over the last few years from other stakeholders regarding the
historic appropriateness of some of these safety improvements. The meeting on
Friday is not a pro forma exercise. It will have some influence on the final
plan for the repaving project.
