Let me know on Monday if you still need it

Would be useful to post Kurt if I may have a copy ;-)

Hopefully, the "unicode" characters won't get changed by the email client. If so, all you need to do is import a unicode doc with all of the characters that you need, and use what comes into Dir for your list(s).
-------------------------------
property pUnicodeCharList
-------------------------------
on new me
if the platform contains "win" then
pUnicodeCharList = ["á":"á", "é":"é", "í":"Ö", "ó":"Ã˛", "ú":"ú", "ñ":"ñ", "¿":"¿", "¡":"¡", "Á":"Ãfl", "É":"É"]
else
pUnicodeCharList = ["á":"√°", "é":"√©", "í":"√≠", "ó":"√≥", "ú":"√∫", "ñ":"√±", "¿":"¬ø", "¡":"¬°", "Á":"√Å", "É":"√â"]
end if

return me
end
--------------------------------
on mPreParseUnicode me, importData
repeat with i = 1 to pUnicodeCharList.count
unicode = pUnicodeCharList[i]
if offset(unicode, importData) then
repeat while offset(unicode, importData)
startChar = offset(unicode, importData)
put pUnicodeCharList.getPropAt(i) into importData.char[startChar..startChar + unicode.char.count - 1]
end repeat
end if
end repeat

  return importData
end
