If user have quicktime, can play MPEG2 ?!?
The ability to play MPEG-2 is as much a legal one as a technical one. If the machine has a DVD-ROM and legal DVD playing software, it can indirectly play MPEG-2 with that player or within Director (using the DVD abilities of MX 2004). That doesn't mean that the machine can play back MPEG-2 via QuickTime. For that to be the case the user would have had to pay the extra $20 for the MPEG-2 playback extension. I'm not sure if that's detectable, other than by looking for the file being in the right place.
Given the various difficulties, why are you using MPEG-2? You could use MPEG-4 and get similar or better looking video that would be bound to work if the machine has QuickTime 6 or later installed.
