i'm an on-and-off user, as i work in many different fields, so i'm also an on/off user of for instance max/msp/jitter/softVNS-, php-, realbasic- and other lists..
great advantage of a responsive list over an archive or online tutorials (which i always try first) is that you only find a things that meet your query, which might often doesn't meet the keywords used in the email or tutorial you look for.. search-engines are just not humans.
humans sharing experiences give much more correct answers than static webpages/archives/tutorials etc. that saves time, and a faster sharing of knowledge.
