Re: > Jeez, can you guys please give Tom a break? ------------ Aren't issues like this a key part of his _job_?
They are. ------------ > Please don't penalize him for being in the middle. He is obviously fighting > the good fight. Organize a polite petition and ask Tom who you should > present it to. But please don't just beat on Tom. ------------ I've been reading Tom's excellent posts and replies on this list for a good while, and you've got to give him more credit and substance than that. He knows it's his _job_ to GET "in the middle" of various issues and convey the MM agenda in the best possible way. He seems more than literate and professional enough to accomplish such a thing regularly. He won't be injured by getting in the middle of issues we have with Director. He'll refine his expression and be strengthened, and so will we in our exchanges with him thus. And, yes, as long as we all play nice, we all benefit in seeking such exchange. ------------ > As I often say about my many wealthy neighbors who whine about minor things, > "You need bigger problems." ------------ To me, it's a "big problem" when I pay a grand for an application that is promoted as being excellent for creating web content (Director), and I invest years into learning to use it to build the kind of projects described in the product materials (and in the process, find out I need(ed) _another_ copy of the entire application to publish cross-platform projectors!), and then when I submit demo URLs or samples to potential clients, they start telling me they "can't install the plugin", or even "I couldn't look at your work. How do I get rid of that Yahoo crap?". I mean, it went from being no problem having anyone look at Shockwave stuff, and then it started getting more difficult to get anyone (like people staffing departments or seeking freelance designers, among others) to deal with it. ------------ > In the words of Trent Lott, "My mama didn't raise any fools. I'm not going > to bite the hand that feeds me." ------------ Yes, but maybe the customers, the people who feed money to MM so they can use all these applications, just want to make sure MM heard that too. Steve Bennett www.ifmp.net (which was, until recently, almost 100% Shockwave) [To remove yourself from this list, or to change to digest mode, go to http://www.penworks.com/lingo-l.cgi To post messages to the list, email [email protected] (Problems, email [EMAIL PROTECTED]).
