I just had an idea:

Would it somehow be possible to get a screen grab of the frame of the
DTS video as the drop down menu is initiated.

I could then get that, stop the video, display the still image as a
bit map, drop down the menu, and on menu deactivate, reverse the
process and continue playing the video....
