I've seen this exact problem. Projector has been working great on many
windows platform. Never used (or needed) an "ini" file. When the project is
run on Windows XP, this error window comes up:

"Unable to load movie playlist. Does the .INI file exit? It must
contain a section "[Movies]" with an entry 'Movie01=Pathname.dir'

Projector quits after this error message.

The projector is made from a stub with just a "go to movie "main" "
script. In the same directory is a protected movie "main.dxr". I installed
an "ini" with the setting the alert asks for:

'Movie01=main.dxr'

and things work fine. Strangely enough this only happens when the projector
is played from the "C" drive. If played from a Jaz (or other removeable
media) the alert doesn't occur and things proceed normally.

I find this unnerving.

I recall seeing on DirectL some XP pathname issues discussed. Perhaps this
problem is related.

Oh yeah, Director 8, projector compiled on my win98 laptop. Tried a both a
fat and a slim projector and had the same problem with both. Problem occurs
on a colleague's computer running WinXP Home. She went to Microsoft website
and ran all the updates but problem still occurs. Also she reports problems
with some code that uses fileIO xtra to read in external files. This
doesn't happen in other Windows flavors.

Ugh.
