You can test turning off Director's compression in Publish Settings.
I don't think that is realated to any of these issues.
MP3 sound cast members are unaffected by this setting, since they are
already compressed

& you brought the files to mac, correct?
& they are in the same relative position to the movie/projector, right?
& the paths have 'Internet' path separators, correct?

First,
1000 is a LONG fadeIn (= 1 second) - is this what you intended?
Secondly,
before a fadeIn, it's good to check that the sound().volume is set to
a reasonable value (if sound(1).volume < 50 then sound(1).volume =
128)
my reasoning: if you had done a fadeOut, that didn't complete, it
might have left the volume near zero & fading in to a trivial value
can make it seem as if sound is not playing
Third:
check sound(1).isBusy() & sound(1).status to find out what's going on
with the channel.

odd, but perhaps your sound channels got set to zero volume somehow.
Is this true for your project when projectorized?
