No it isn't! (trying to sound like John Cleese) Maybe I totally missing your point here, but:
You don't need the extra "\" on Windows, that was *my* point. You may find that it still works if you add the extra "\" on Win, though. Maybe this is what is confusing you? But, since it's not needed in the first place, there's nothing to "forget" on MAC. Just test this in the message window: put the moviePath & "myFile.txt" -- "D:\myFile.txt" put the moviePath & "\myFile.txt" -- "D:\\myFile.txt" Now, let's put our lab-coat on: open the moviePath & "myFile.txt" with "notepad.exe" open the moviePath & "\myFile.txt" with "notepad.exe" open the moviePath & "\\\\\\\\\myFile.txt" with "notepad.exe" They all work fine! So it seems that Director/Windows disregards the extra backslashes.
