Isn't this whole debate now a bit irrelevant Fabrice because it's already been pointed out that the "lastChar of the moviePath" gives the required path seperator REGARDLESS OF WHICH OS YOU'RE USING. That's the way you write cross-platform apps in Director - use the built-in cross-platform commands to save you lots of work converting between the two...
